Hill Country Song Workshops For 2013
For further details drop us a line at . Someone will get back to you right away. We're traveling with the workshops now, too. We will go back to Red River, NM in June, for a fun weekend in that charming little mountain town with Kevin and Dustin Welch, and Eliza Gilkyson. We can take up to 20 students for this one, so start looking at your vacation plans now and come hang in Red River with us! The cost is $1200 a person and includes lunch and dinner, and lodging above the old Texas Red's Steakhouse. We take over the hotel from Thursday through Sunday. Eliza, Dustin and Kevin will also play a show that Saturday night. Click here for details on the Red River Retreat. Check back soon for details on workshops in Australia and New Zealand in July and August. And when we're hosting in Wimberley, you're in a gorgeous log cabin nestled in the scenic Texas Hill Country. We keep the number of writers to no more than 7 so that you will have plenty of time over the four days to work closely with Kevin on your songs. You'll discuss vital lyric devices, melody, delivery, lyric structure and rhythm, both in small group discussions and in one-on-one time with Kevin. There is also a top-notch demo facility available for you to record your songs. The all-inclusive price ($1000 for a shared room, $1200 for the upstairs private room, $1350 for the master suite, $1500 for the cabin [best if you bring a spouse], and $1000 if you stay elsewhere) provides you with:
Plus, we can line you up with great guitar and vocal coaches for reasonable additional fees, to be announced. You can probably learn how to make some Mexican food, too. Occasionally, financial aid for the workshop becomes available in the form of scholarships. Contact us for further information. Take a look at some photos of earlier retreats. We've made couple of little videos about the workshops:
One of the songwriters at our first workshop in August, 2010, made a video montage about his experience. It captures what we're doing with these workshops: work and fun, food and friends. |

We just finished up another amazing year of workshop retreats. We're calling them "retreats" because that's what they really are. You can come out to Wimberley, turn off your cell phone, actually see a bunch of stars in the sky, and enjoy a weekend of writing and playing. We've hosted about 100 writers up to this point. Many have been back again! Out here at the Welch homestead in the Texas Hill Country, we have room for up to 7 writers per workshop. Whether you've never written a song in your life, or if you're a pro needing a little bump, we'd love to share this place with you. Write to us for details.
